5 Important Tips For Landscaping Around A New Construction Home

When you are going to be landscaping a new home, you are working with a clean slate. That is exciting! Before you start buying all of your equipment, supplies and, of course, those plants and flowers, it's time to develop a solid plan. You can always call the landscaping experts to help you out, too. Here are some tips to help you as you get ready to plan out the landscape for your new home.

Start big and work your way towards the smaller details. Plan out the different areas of your lawn and landscape first. How many trees are on your lot? It might be time to plant a tree or two. If you decide to do that, you want to consider how large the tree will be once it reaches maturity. You will want to plan out the rest of your landscape accordingly.

Do you need to set up any perimeter fencing? Are you going to want to build a patio? What about a new storage shed or a swimming pool? Those are large ticket items that take up quite a lot of space. They might not be the first things that come to mind when you're getting ready to do some landscaping. Yet, because of their size, they are important to consider before you start laying out the blueprints for your lawn.

You also want to familiarize yourself with the native plants of your area. It's these plants that you will want to focus on as you start planting. Do you want a garden? If so, you need to set up a dedicated space for that garden. Don't forget as you do all of this that you're going to want to designate a budget for your plan. You don't want to get to the planting part and end up broke before you start selecting beautiful flowers for your landscape.

Do you need to address any grass concerns? A magnificently large tree is wonderful, but it can cause the grass underneath to disappear given all the shade. That is just one example of landscaping challenges that come into play with individual lawns. Address whether or not you need to plant any grass or make any landscaping changes based on your yard and how things are already laid out.

Next, it's time to use bricks and pavers to set up any flower gardens that you want to build. You can also address at this point any perimeter shrubs that you want to plant along walkways or up close to your home. Think about how you want to have everything laid out. You are going to need landscaping materials for flower beds, and you're going to need to start thinking about what mulch you want to use throughout your lawn.

These landscaping tips for a new home will get you started. Now it's up to you to decide how you want to move forward with your plan. Get everything on paper, and then you can hit the garden supply store or local greenhouse nursery. This is going to be fun!
